主講人簡(jiǎn)介:
Associate Professor Ben Wadham is a cultural sociologist from the School of Education, Flinders University. Ben undertakes policy analysis in the fields of organisational change in the military, health and education. His recent publications have included studies of crime in the military, and the establishment of reconciliation processes with Australia’s indigenous people. Ben is interested in the cultural production of equity and equal opportunity in male dominated policy arenas, and the possibilities of inclusion and the management of cultural difference.
主講內(nèi)容:
Policy development addresses problems, issues and concerns in the governance of social and political life. While it is an administrative tool it is also a political process. Policies reflect contemporary organisational or government approaches to address matters of concern - they are a specific representation of the ideas, practices and identities of different cultural groups - or stakeholders. This lecture introduces the ideas of french sociologist Pierre Bourdieu as a methodology for understanding policy development. The lecture will discuss the idea of cultural stakeholder analysis of the policy development cycle, emphasising that while there are different approaches to policy analysis, the exploration of culture provides the deepest assessment of the potential for change.
