應(yīng)管理與經(jīng)濟(jì)學(xué)院的邀請，香港浸會大學(xué)的Christy M. K. Cheung教授于2023年4月27日上午10點在線上做了題為《Understanding the Current State of Knowledge andFuture Directions of Doxing Research: A SocialCognitive Theory Perspective》的學(xué)術(shù)報告。報告會由厲洋軍老師主持，學(xué)院眾多師生參加了本次報告會。
報告開始，Christy教授指出目前的互聯(lián)網(wǎng)和社交媒體充斥著網(wǎng)絡(luò)暴力和網(wǎng)絡(luò)騷擾的行為，這些行為對人們的身體和精神健康都會產(chǎn)生不良影響，甚至?xí)?dǎo)致自殺。同時，這些行為也會對人們?nèi)绾问褂蒙缃黄脚_產(chǎn)生影響。人肉搜索(Doxing)作為網(wǎng)絡(luò)暴力的一種特殊形式，指的是第三方故意在公共平臺公開個人信息以達(dá)到侮辱、威脅和懲罰的目的。施暴者通過人肉搜索公開了受害者的個人信息且這些信息還會被用來進(jìn)行后續(xù)的騷擾和攻擊。
為了減少這種行為的產(chǎn)生，一些地方政府制定了反對人肉搜索的法律法規(guī)。然而，社交平臺在遵守相關(guān)法規(guī)的同時也可能對群眾的言論自由產(chǎn)生影響。現(xiàn)有大部分研究主要從法律角度進(jìn)行研究，關(guān)注的主要是外部環(huán)境是如何影響人肉搜索行為，缺少從個體、行為以及社交平臺的角度對人肉搜索行為進(jìn)行研究。因此，Christy提出未來的研究應(yīng)該重點關(guān)注人們是如何通過社交平臺來參與或應(yīng)對人肉搜索行為，以此來幫助社交平臺更好的在法規(guī)和言論自由間找到平衡。此外，Christy以2019年香港反修例事件中的人肉搜索行為作為案例進(jìn)行了進(jìn)一步的探究，通過對相關(guān)的社交媒體數(shù)據(jù)以及對香港警察的訪談數(shù)據(jù)進(jìn)行分析，揭示了社會運動背景下施暴者進(jìn)行人肉搜索的動機和方式，以及人肉搜索對受害者的影響。研究結(jié)果表明，盡管施暴者是以尋求社會公平的名義開展人肉搜索行為，但這種行為本身卻延續(xù)了不公平性。最后，由于人肉搜索的不良影響以及相關(guān)研究的匱乏，未來的研究可以更多地關(guān)注受害者的應(yīng)對機制以及平臺和法律法規(guī)該如何控制人肉搜索行為。
報告結(jié)束后，與會師生與Christy教授展開了積極的討論，受到了很多啟發(fā)。報告反響熱烈，得到了師生們的一致好評。
報告人簡介:
Christy M.K Cheung is a Professor of Management Information Systems and theDirector of the Research Office at Hong KongBaptist University.Sheis theawardee of a prestigious fellowship schemeRGC Senior Research Fellow(研局高級研究學(xué)者)andobtains HK$7.8million(USD1million)to support her research work on cybermobbing behaviors on social media platforms. Her researchinterests include IT and User Behaviors, Responsible Use of IT, and IT and Societal implications. She has published over 200 refereed articles in internationajournals and conference proceedings, including European Journal of InformationSystems,Information Systems Journal,Information Systems Research, Journal of Information Technology, Journal of Management Information Systems, Journal of the Association for Information Systems, Journal of the Association for Information Science and Technology, MIS Quarterly and among others. Her workshave been cited around 30000 times and over 9,000 times per Google Scholarand Web of Sciencerespectively, with an h-index of 73 and an i-10 index of 137. She has been recognized to be among the World's Top 2 percent scholars, witha recent ranking of 29th out of 18K scientists in the field of information systems(and ranked 1st among female scientists in the field of information systems). Sherecently ranked 1st among all MIS scholars in Hong Kong on the AIS RankingList. Her academic leadership roles include being the Editor-in-Chief of Internet Research (since 2016). She successfully brought the journal from AJG Level 2 toLevel 3 in 2021. She has also served in many different Senior Editor and Associate Editor roles for several major IS journals, including Decision Support Systems, Information & Management, Information Systems Journal, Information Systems Research,Journal of Association lnformation Systems, and others.
